Master Bathroom Refresh

Should I paint my bathroom cabinets? Is it worth switching out the hardware? Can I do a bathroom refresh on a budget?

The answer is yes. Yes, to all of the above.

Our house is in a constant state of refreshes because makeovers are just a little too BIG of a word, you know? A refresh is a new coat of paint. A makeover is knock out this wall. At least in my mind. And in my husband’s mind too. He’s down for a refresh. Makeover? Not so much.

So let’s talk about this refresh. This section is a sink area that leads into our master bathroom. If you are new around these parts, my house is basic. There’s nothing special about any of it. Well, except maybe the front porch (hence the name). I have carpet in this sink area, for crying out loud. The mirror was a gigantic slab of mirror. Let’s take a gander, shall we?

Before pictures are so fun to share.

What all did we do?

  • We painted the cabinets Olive Grove by Magnolia chalk paint. It was super easy! I did take the doors off and painted them on my dining room table (with lots of old towels underneath!).
  • We bought new hardware from Wayfair. You can grab the pulls here and the door handles here.
  • I found an antique mirror on FB Marketplace for $45.
  • We did a faux shiplap accent wall behind the mirror.
  • The biggest expense was replacing the light fixture on the wall.
  • The cheapest expense was this pendant from Amazon.
  • We also ended up installing a new sink fixture.
  • We painted the entire space Marshmallow by Sherwin Williams.
Another before to share that gorgeous light fixture we had.

Let’s get to some after shots, shall we?

I’m still pinching myself over the deal I got on this mirror.
I added a simple botanical print.

I really love how it turned out! It always amazes me what a coat of paint and some shiplap can do to a space!

Until next time! From my porch to yours!

XO,

Sharlie
