Each month, we partner up with Date Night In Box and I can tell you, our date night in is one of my most favorite nights of the month! We receive this box for free so that we can share with you guys and get the word out about this amazing monthly subscription box. I’m being completely honest when I say that if DNI ever ended their affiliate program, we would pay for this service in a heartbeat.
What is Date Night In box? It’s a monthly date that is planned for us (and you!) and sent to our home once a month that allows us to spend some quality time at home together. It’s creative. It’s intentional. It’s simple.
Each date has a theme and everything you need is included in the box (even pencils, when needed!). There is an optional menu provided and a playlist designed for that date on Spotify. There is a guide included that walks you through the date’s itinerary. There are questions that promote healthy conversation. My husband and I have been dating since we were fourteen and married for fifteen years and we still learn more about each other through our date discussions!
Our latest date was themed Adventure Together. As always, it was super fun! Contents included our itinerary, tea light candles, a deck of cards, coordinates for a star specifically for Date Night In (how cool!), our Faith discussion guide (optional), a really cool ear of corn to make popcorn, and I Would/I Would Never cards.
We began our date by cooking a meal together. Normally, we would use the optional menu that Date Night In provides, but the main dish was mac n’ cheese and I don’t like noodles…SO we made some homemade pizza. We rarely get to just relax and cook dinner together so this part is always fun for us. While we ate, we discussed the faith component, which focused on Psalm 19:1-4 and how creation reveals how big and great our God really is. We’ve really enjoyed the Faith component in our last two boxes.
After dinner, we lit our candles and played I Would/I Would Never with a list of questions designed to test how adventurous our spirits really are. We came to the conclusion that neither of us are very adventurous!
There was a fort building challenge and we made our included corn on the cob popcorn, which was really neat and really yummy! We spent some time outside stargazing and reflecting on the vastness of the night sky.
We played a card game called Speed, which was really fun. My husband won every round! lol We ended the night with a Campfire Council where we reflected on topics like: what’s brought us joy this month, ways we have struggled during the month, ways we can help each other, and more. I’m not one to speak a lot about my emotions so this part of our monthly date night has been really helpful for allowing me to open up more to my husband.
It’s always fun to write up our date night because I’m able to take the time to reflect on the evening and how important this night is for our marriage. You can check out Date Night In Box more for yourself here…AND they also have a Kid Night In Box that you should check out!!
From our porch to ours,
Sharlie
